Run planning guide
The Wishing Fountain is a pre-run choice that can seed a build with a specific Artifact direction. Use it to improve consistency, not to force a route whose other core pieces cannot appear.
Direct answer
The Fountain can offer starting Artifact choices before a descent. Community build notes use options such as Dark Planet, Wings, Ice Wings and Compression Bandage to make Planet, Frost Relic or dash-recovery routes more consistent. Those examples are build evidence, not a complete current catalog.
The older guide also describes a Fountain event whose water color can trigger different outcomes. Do not combine that dungeon event with the pre-run Wishing Fountain unless the current UI uses the same name; the sources distinguish several fountain-like interactions.
Selection rules
Pick an item that supplies the build's hardest-to-find trigger: a summon seed, a Touch enabler, dash recovery, MP uptime or a defensive layer. Avoid spending the choice on a generic damage item when the route still lacks a way to deal its intended element.
Deer and Planet Summoner examples use the Fountain to reduce the risk of missing a defining Artifact. A defensive Greatsword route may prefer a sustain or block-supporting start. Exact current selection pools, costs and reroll behavior remain To be confirmed.
