Sephiria's researched v1.0.24 roster contains 27 playable Costumes, while NPCs such as Elru and Artifact-created Companions are separate, non-playable character types.
Direct Answer
The current character material records 27 playable Costumes: eight available by default and 19 unlockable. A Costume can change stats, starting items, penalties, movement rules, resource use, or build scaling, so it is more than a visual skin. Appearance variants do not add separate playable Costumes.
NPCs are not playable and provide quests, dialogue, story, or world interaction. Companions are allied combat units usually created or summoned by Artifacts. Older guide material lists only 17 Costumes, but it predates the v1.0.24 roster and should not replace the newer documented total.
Default Roster
The default list is Pink Bunny, Armored Rabbit, Brown Rabbit, Braided Hair Rabbit, Orange Rabbit, Red-Hooded Rabbit, White Rabbit, and Wing-Eared Rabbit. The audited roster lists Pink Bunny without an unusual trade-off, Armored Rabbit with Defense and reduced maximum HP, and Brown Rabbit with Evasion. Exact effects for every entry should be checked after balance patches.
White Rabbit is recorded with increased maximum MP and reduced Evasion, while Wing-Eared Rabbit starts with Blessing. Other default entries support mobility, attack speed, debuff, or magic directions in the roster categories. The supplied extraction does not preserve every numeric effect beside every name, so missing values are 待确认 rather than reconstructed.
Unlockable Roster
Nineteen Costumes use combat milestones, collection goals, story progress, restricted clears, ownership requirements, or special events. Documented examples include reaching elemental damage, holding Tablets, defeating enemies or bosses, using magic, taking cumulative damage in one adventure, and completing Blood Donation events. Conditions that specify one adventure must be completed in the same run.
The current source records Red-Clothed Cat, Red Fox, Frog, Mole, White Wolf, Wizard Bunny, Skeleton, Wingless Bat, Adventurer Rabbit, Scholar Lizard, Ghost, Otter, Eagle, Crocodile, Deer, Fairy of Fortune, Farmer Squirrel, Turtle, and Forest Cat among unlockable entries. Individual effects and requirements are version-sensitive; use the current in-game text when it differs.
NPCs
Elru is an NPC rather than a Costume. The Ask Around quest places Elru at three documented locations around Bunnyville and the Ark puzzle room: southwest of the carrot farm inside a narrow tree lane, between trees above the clothing shop near the upper-right pond, and behind the first column from the lower-right inside the Ark puzzle room. Check them in order if the marker does not advance.
Other NPCs appear in Bunnyville or the tower and can provide shops, dialogue, progression, or story information. The materials do not provide a complete final-release NPC directory. Any claim that every named story character is playable is therefore incorrect or 待确认.
Companions
Companions fight as allied units but cannot be selected as Costumes. The character material gives Collin and Mini Ballista as examples and says these allies are usually created or summoned by Artifacts. They should not be included in the count of 27 playable Costumes.
The older beginner guide recommends recruiting Colin against a difficult final boss because the ally can distract it. That is a community tactic from an earlier version, not proof of current Companion balance. Exact health, damage, summon rules, and co-op interactions are 待确认 unless shown by current data.
Appearances
Costume Appearances are visual variants of existing Costumes. The source says Appearance Change was introduced, Sapphire purchases were confirmed, and seven Costumes received variants in the documented period. These variants do not count as new playable entries.
Separate visual choice from mechanical Costume selection when counting the roster. A new portrait or palette does not imply a new starting item, benefit, or penalty. Current Appearance prices and the final list after later patches are 待确认.
Version Conflict
The older Steam community guide says there were 17 Costumes and documents the game around versions 0.7.31–0.7.35. The newer character source explicitly records 27 in a v1.0.24 community database and notes that several Costumes were rebalanced or reworked before and during 1.0. The newer roster is therefore the appropriate current source among the supplied materials.
This does not guarantee every effect remains unchanged after v1.0.24. Preserve the version label when quoting a benefit, trade-off, starting item, or unlock requirement. If the current in-game description conflicts with the page, the current description should be treated as authoritative and the web value marked 待确认 pending review.
Selection
Select a Costume that strengthens the mechanic the planned Weapon and inventory already use. Magic starters fit spell routes, defensive profiles support blocking or Guardian, movement profiles help spacing, and inventory changes affect Tablet planning. A penalty that one route can bypass may be severe for another.
Do not call one Costume universally best. The collected source organizes choices by elemental magic, MP, dash, Critical and Special attacks, debuffs, inventory, economy, Artifacts, Companions, and straightforward stats. Exact best-in-slot rankings are not verified and remain 待确认 outside a defined build and patch.
Research Method
This page uses only the seven supplied Sephiria research documents: the Builds, Characters, Guide, Mods, Secret Rooms, Tier List, and Weapons files. Navigation labels, advertisements, social buttons, repeated transcript filler, and claims that did not answer the target keyword were removed. A statement was retained only when the collected text tied it to a named system, documented observation, source version, or clearly identified community opinion.
When sources disagree, the newer and more specific record takes priority while the conflict remains visible. The clearest example is the Costume count: the older alpha guide lists 17, while the v1.0.24 character roster records 27, so current character pages use 27 and explain why the older number is not treated as current. Build claims also keep their recorded patch and evidence label because a community recipe, a video clear, and an official game fact are not interchangeable.
No missing value is reconstructed from memory, search demand, or a similar game. Unverified save paths, current mod compatibility, Cheat Engine tables, trainer downloads, multiplayer networking behavior, spawn rates, and post-source balance changes are marked 待确认. Players should treat current in-game text and newer official patch information as authoritative whenever it conflicts with an older community observation.
