Sephiria Companion Build: Amethyst Greatsword Guide

Turn Steel Greatsword's Whirlwind into three rapid-firing Amethyst Companions, then multiply their output with Weapon, special-attack, Companion and universal damage.

Tier 20 damage tested · Final boss not cleared

Direct answer

How Does the Amethyst Companion Build Work?

This Sephiria Companion Build uses Black Rabbit and Steel Greatsword to replace Whirlwind with Amethyst Conjuration. Each cast spends 24 MP and summons an Amethyst Companion that fires Void attacks. The recorded version can maintain up to three Amethysts, then layers Companion damage, Companion attack speed, Companion maximum HP, Weapon damage, special-attack damage and universal damage onto their attacks.

The unusual strength is how many different modifiers affect one summon. A training-dummy sequence in the video tests several bonuses separately, showing that Amethyst damage rises with Weapon damage and with damage for abilities that consume MP. The build then adds Companion and universal scaling, while Steel Greatsword's laser attacks remain available when the summons need help.

Preset

Black Rabbit, Talents, Ring, and Tier 20 Modifiers

Black Rabbit is the alternate White Rabbit Costume used in the footage. The creator selects it for special-attack damage and maximum MP, accepting its Evasion loss. The preset invests heavily in Willpower and Swiftness to support Wishing Fountain access, Weapon scaling and the route's resource needs. Exact point totals are not shown cleanly enough in the transcript to present as mandatory.

Discarded Golden Ring is the starting Wishing Fountain Artifact. Its requirement is 40 special-attack kills; once completed, the video shows it becoming Absolute Ring and granting a large special-attack damage and range benefit. The opening is awkward because repeated special attacks exhaust MP, so temporary MP regeneration is useful until the ring evolves and the Companion engine comes online.

The run is recorded at Roots Retreat Tier 20 with Ferocious Claws, Tenacious Body, Protective Armor, Agile Claws, Evil Synergy, False Guard and Proliferation enabled. Those modifiers are evidence for this particular attempt, not a recommendation that every version of the build must use the same difficulty configuration.

Use Troubling Delight, Then Unlock Amethyst Conjuration

The first demonstrated Steel Greatsword upgrade is Troubling Delight, which changes normal and special attacks into lasers. The ordinary attack becomes a ranged laser and the special attack becomes a larger beam, helping Black Rabbit complete Discarded Golden Ring without committing to melee range.

A later enhancement grants 35% Companion damage and Simple Contract, which increases Companion maximum HP. The decisive upgrade is transcribed as “Lazarion,” changing Whirlwind into Amethyst Conjuration. Current English upgrade spelling is To be confirmed, but the recorded effect is clear: spend 24 MP to summon an 80-HP Amethyst that deals Void damage and loses five HP with every attack.

Each Amethyst therefore has a limited number of shots even when enemies never hit it. Raising Companion maximum HP from 80 to 120 at the demonstrated 150% target extends the summon from roughly 16 self-paid attacks to roughly 24 before other damage is considered. Companion attack speed spends that health faster, so HP, revival speed and enough MP to replace expired summons are part of the damage engine rather than optional defense.

  1. 01

    Evolve the ring

Use the laser special attack to finish Discarded Golden Ring’s 40-kill requirement.

  2. 02

    Unlock Amethyst

Take the Greatsword path that replaces Whirlwind with Amethyst Conjuration.

  3. 03

    Maintain three summons

Refresh Amethysts between rooms while out-of-combat MP regeneration is faster.

  4. 04

    Preserve MP recovery

Do not sell every regeneration source; later rooms require frequent replacements.

Which Damage Bonuses Actually Affect Amethysts?

The video removes other damage sources and records a 97-damage baseline from one Amethyst. Adding Weapon damage raises the shown hit to 110. Removing it and adding the modifier for damage from abilities that consume MP raises the hit from 97 to 126. Restoring the broader setup produces 149 per hit in the same test sequence. These are controlled comparisons inside one run, although changing enemy defenses later causes different displayed values.

The creator reports that Amethysts scale with Weapon damage, special-attack or MP-consuming-ability damage, Companion damage, universal damage, elemental damage, Companion maximum HP and Companion attack speed. Ordinary Physical damage and ordinary attack speed are not presented as equivalent replacements. Companion attack speed from Slim Pincushion is different because it directly accelerates the summons.

Several tempting on-hit interactions fail the test. Lightning-Struck Branch does not appear to trigger its extra Lightning hit from Amethyst attacks, and Frostium Ring is rejected for the same reason. Ice effects tested by the creator trigger on the initial summon rather than every crystal attack. Lifesteal also does not heal from Amethyst damage, although the narration reports that a separate life-on-attack effect can work. Keep those boundaries instead of assuming every “Weapon attack” tooltip transfers to the summon.

Build priorities

Companion Artifacts, Board Layout, and MP Recovery

Mining Supervisor Armband is an early priority because it summons Mole Chief. Alfonso's Horn raises Companion damage, Slim Pincushion supplies Companion attack speed and revival haste, and Simple Contract increases maximum HP so the Amethysts fire more times before self-destructing. Devotion Insignia rewards lining ordinary Companion Artifacts along its affected row, though the Amethyst itself is a Weapon ability and cannot simply be dragged into that row.

Other useful Companions include Spirit Powder summons, Mini Ballista and Soul Mole. The run eventually reaches Companion 10, improving Companion damage and revival haste, but never finds Colin. Pouch of Black Tea adds stacking universal damage after mini-boss kills, while Blue Mystic Ring supplies universal damage when HP is high. Glass Hammer and other Weapon-damage options can scale Amethysts, but their final-HP penalties make survival more fragile.

Tablet choices are functional rather than fixed. Stack, Handshake, Future, Honor, Defensive Move, Harvest, Entrance, Junction, Rally, Transference, Unity and Progress all appear while the creator tries to activate Alfonso's Horn, Simple Contract and several Companions efficiently. Prefer Enchant when the core pieces need levels and inventory expansion when the row layout no longer fits.

MP regeneration is the most important correction shown late in the run. The creator removes two regeneration pieces, then struggles to replace dead Amethysts and describes that choice as a mistake. A Stormcloud MP-regeneration pickup stabilizes the next rooms. Keep enough maximum MP for initial deployment and enough regeneration for repeated three-summon refreshes during long bosses.

Tier 20 evidence

What the Build Melts—and Where the Attempt Fails

Once three Amethysts and the core Companion bonuses are active, several stage and mini-boss encounters end quickly. The video shows a roughly 2,700 DPS check before one boss and later reads approximately 4,100 DPS after reaching Companion 10 and stacking additional universal damage. A Wasteland mini-boss loses health almost immediately, and an earlier multi-phase boss is cleared while the player mainly dodges and replaces summons.

The weakness is sustained survival under arena-wide pressure. Amethysts target nearby enemies rather than focusing only the boss, consume their own HP, can all die together and require MP to replace. The player also carries reduced final HP from damage Artifacts and spends several restorative potions before the last encounter. Companion distraction helps, but it does not make Black Rabbit invulnerable.

In the final fight, the summons clear phase one and recover quickly after being wiped. During the next phase, the boss covers most of the board with dangerous patterns; the player runs out of MP and dies after reaching about half boss health. The footage therefore verifies high damage and a viable Tier 20 route through most of the run, while final-boss consistency, a complete Tier 20 clear and higher difficulties remain To be confirmed.

What the Companion Combo Video Proves

The source is the supplied YouTube video, “This BROKEN Companion Combo MELTS Bosses! - Sephiria”. It shows the preset, Tier 20 modifiers, Greatsword upgrades, training-dummy comparisons, inventory changes, several boss kills and the failed final encounter in one recorded attempt.

The evidence supports the listed scaling interactions where the video directly adds and removes bonuses. It does not prove that every tooltip name survived later localization or balance updates, that the unusual overlapping scaling is intended, or that life-on-attack behavior still works after Sephiria 1.0. Exact spellings such as Lazarion, Slim Pincushion and some translated Artifact names remain To be confirmed against the current English client.

Reproduce the engine rather than the exact inventory: Black Rabbit, Steel Greatsword lasers, Amethyst Conjuration, three active summons, Companion damage and HP, Weapon and special-attack scaling, plus sustainable MP regeneration. Add secondary Companions and universal damage only after that loop is stable.
